SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 22
First Baptist Church will again this year be joining with thousands of other churches, individuals, and service groups in the ministry known as Operation Christmas Child. Sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child seeks to provide shoeboxes of age-appropriate gifts, toys, and personal hygiene items to less privileged children in other parts of the world, along with a Christian witness via tracts, Bibles, etc.
Individuals, families, Sunday School and small groups, and ministry groups can all take part in this incredible mission effort.
We have a special opportunity this year as Livia Young comes to share her story of how Operation Christmas Child impacted her life. Livvy credits OCC with saving her life as a young girl in Romania, as well as leading her to faith in Christ. Livvy will be with us in all three services on Sunday, November 8.
We will collect our shoeboxes on Sunday, November 22, “Bring It!” Sunday. Please bring your packed box(es) with you to church that day and take them to the sanctuary. Our goal this year is 400 boxes, and we anticipate going well over that number. If you cannot attend on the 22nd, please bring your box(es) to the church office an at earlier date.
If you have participated in this project in previous years, we hope you will again be able to participate. If you have not done so previously but would like to take part this year, please take a moment to learn about Samaritan’s Purse and how to pack a shoebox.
